The London Taxi Company, following a £25 million investment by its parent company Geely (owners of Volvo as well), has presented it new electric cab during the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Antsy, Coventry.
Development is still in the early steps, though the plant should be capable of producing more than 20,000 vehicles per year.
Using Volvo electric powertrain technologies, the plan is to target the commercial sector as well as logistics "last-mile" delivery sectors
With the rise in zero-emissions norms across the major cities in the world, electrification becomes a key issue for manufacturers.
