The production of Ford Transit began in 1965 and it was offered to the British public as a vehicle with a square shell design. In the 70s, the Mark II model was introduced and featured an improvement in its engineering and appearance. It was more comfortable and reliable than its predecessor. In the 80s and 90s, the exterior was augmented to look much like the versions we see in our roads today. Significant changes were also introduced in 1994. This is the time when air conditioning, central locking, airbags and electric windows were added, features of which we now take for granted.
By 1995, the Transit celebrated its 30th anniversary in the UK, establishing itself as a legend in the automotive industry. The third generation Transit was further improved. It has become easier to control and comfortable to drive with, making it a popular option for commercial van drivers.
