The Citroen Berlingo is a multi-purpose van perfect for everyone

Citroen's best selling commercial vehicle is available in many versions that's why we have decided to write a quick review of it

The Citroen Berlingo is available in multiple versions and variations.

The two main variants are the L1 and the L2 of respectively 3.7 m3 and 4.1 m3, the van is available with multiple engines such as the:

  • Euro5, 74 bhp, 1.6l HDi, Diesel, Common-rail injection
  • Euro5, 89 bhp, 1.6l HDi, Diesel, Common-rail injection
  • Euro5, 94 bhp, 1.6l VTi, Petrol
  • 49kW, Full-Electric Engine
  • Euro6, 98 bhp, 1.6l BlueHDI, Diesel
  • Euro6, 118bhp, 1.6l BlueHDI, Diesel

The new Euro6 engines come with a 6-speed gearbox, and use SCR Technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction). Trim levels range from X to LX, an XTR+ version is available for limited off-road ability.

All Berlingos are fitted with a Teletrac Smartnav navigation and Trackstar Vehicle tracking. When it comes to economy and eco-friendliness the most economical version is the Euro6, 98 bhp, 1.6l BlueHDI, Diesel returning 68.9mpg with emissions of 109g/km with the ETG6 Automatic gearbox and 67.3 with 111g/km with the manual. If you feel like buying a diesel the range always exceed the 50mpg mark while petrol only manages 43.5mpg. The electric version claims a range of 106 miles and can be charged in 12 hours on a domestic socked or 35 minutes on a quick charger.

Even though you should service it every 12,500 miles however this expense is lowered by being part of one of the lowest insurance groups.

With regards to the safety it features an ESC (Electronic Stability Control) the Hill Start Assist, ABS and a Driver's Airbag so a reasonable safety profile.

In conclusion a great van to drive.
